My Personal Story...
For years, I was suffering from PMS, heavy menstrual cycles and a general frustration with western medicine. When I began my period as a teen, I had irregular cycles and heavy bleeding. Despite the fact that this is relatively normal when you are young, my doctor decided to put me on birth control to "regulate" my cycle. Even though this did regulate me, I feel it left some natural body processes to be ignored and undesired side effects to boot.
In my early twenties, I was diagnosed with Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome, with which I was told left me to a lifetime of hormonal medication. I was less than thrilled and opted for no medicine or hormones and decided to figure it out on my own. After several more years of attempting to set my body straight with acupuncture, herbs and diet changes, I was still suffering.
It wasn't until I came across the book, The Red Tent, by Anita Diamant that I realized how much grief and sadness I had been holding in my womb and body. It was then that I was able to uncover some of the spiritual and emotional cconditioning and belief patterns that were keeping me in pain.
I was yearning for knowledge, so I set out to discover the mystery of moontime and how it affects the lives of women. I went on a deep spiritual journey and inquiry that led me to a spiritual practice of bleeding in a ritualistic way with the earth.
I met other women who were on this medicine journey of the blood mysteries and together we created Red Tent Communities, a primary one being in collaboration with Red Lightning, a Burning Man Community which held a moonlodge for bleeding women on the playa for several years.
Through my personal reflections, experiences and studies, I found many insights and revelations relating to the empowerment of women as well as healing myself from the ailments, discomfort and suffering of menstruation and PMS. My Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome has healed and I did not have take medication!
Today, my deep commitment to this spiritual practice of the moon mysteries has strong roots in my life and continues to create the foundation for my personal and professional life. I am passionate and ecstatic to share my knowledge and ideas of women's womb magic with others and I look forward to many opportunities for expressing my female-positive point of view!
